David Campbell and Fred Weber Scholarships

The Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society is pleased to announce that applications are now open for this year’s David Campbell scholarship and Fred Weber scholarship for general surgery residents and medical students, respectively. The deadline for submission is June 8, 2018.

ECTSS Member Publishings

The ECTSS congratulates Benny Weksler, MBA, MD, FACS who was published in the January 2018 and April 2018 issues of The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and Andrea Wolf, MD who was published in the March 2018 issue of the The Annals of of Thoracic Surgery.

ECTSS Installs New President

Abbas El-Sayed Abbas, MD has been installed as the President of the ECTSS for 2017-2018.

Dr. Abbas is Professor and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center.  

Countdown to ECTSS 55th Annual Meeting

The Eastern is pleased to announce that Douglas E. Wood, MD, FACS, FRCSED will be the keynote speaker at this years' 55th Annual Meeting James A. Magovern, MD Memorial Lectureship Luncheon on Friday, October 20, 2017 starting at 12:15 pm. Dr. Wood will present on Lung Cancer Screening: Guidelines, Policy, and Access. 

ECTSS 54th Annual Meeting

Registration is open for the 54th Annual Meeting of the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society. We invite you to join us October 19-22, 2016 at the Loews Don CeSar Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

The meeting is open to all members of the Society along with residents, fellows, medical students, non-surgeons, non-members, spouses and guests.

ECTSS Launches Scholarship ProgramThe Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society is pleased to announce the David Campbell scholarship for residents and the Fred Weber scholarship for medical students. These scholarships are designed for general surgery residents and medical students interested in cardiothoracic surgery. The scholarship will pay for travel, lodging, and registration for the meeting. Each scholarship recipient will have their travel, registration, and hotel expenses covered. They will also have a mentor with whom they will have lunch.
